S tepping into L’oscar was like entering a world of captivating trans- PRIVATE JOURNAL NO3
formation. This former Baptist Church, exuding historical significance
and architectural brilliance, has been splendidly restored into a luxurious
haven of premium hospitality. Throughout my stay, I couldn’t help but
marvel at the warm staff and their gracefully polite demeanor, which
instantly made me feel like a cherished friend.
Originally built between 1901 and 1903 in the enchanting “Edwardian
Free Baroque” style, L’oscar is nestled near Covent Garden, at the heart
of London’s vibrant high-end district. The renowned decorator, Jacques
Garcia, has carefully adorned the interiors with flamboyant touches, cre-
ating a space that radiates opulence and individuality. Every corner of
this impressive hotel tells a story, with its rich hues, intricate gilded details, and whimsical
elements like butterflies and birds.
As I entered my room, it felt as if I had stepped into an elaborate theatrical setting, waiting
for the next act to unfold. The super king-sized bed, adorned with a hand-picked down-feath-
ered duvet, beckoned me to indulge in unparalleled comfort. The marble bathroom, adorned
with unique features and lavish products, added an extra touch of luxury to my stay.
The charm continued beyond the rooms, with L’oscar boasting two exquisite private event
spaces. The Committee Room, located on the first floor, exuded a sense of history with its
original fireplace and beautifully crafted oak dining table, perfect for hosting intimate pri-
vate dinners. Meanwhile, the Library showcased remarkable craftsmanship and a curated
collection of decorative objects.
The grand finale took place at the hotel’s restaurant, which exuded the charm and sophis-
