In addition, in 2017 the G. & A. Mamidakis
Foundation sponsored the 8th Children’s
Festival of Agios Nikolaos, entitled “My Name
is Hope”. With a view to educating generations
both young and old about the environment
and culture, the foundation participated in the
festival, in particular supporting the actions
“Protect the Sea” and “Journey to Greek
Mythology”. “Protect the Sea” was a continuation
of the 1st Educational Programme “Save the
Planet from Trash”, implemented in October
2016 in 4 schools of the Municipality of Agios
Nikolaos. Aselected team of’ Planet Agents’ now
undertook the training of the festival’s small
guests in order to teach them how to protect
the marine ecosystem. The “Journey to Greek
Mythology” activities, following the successful
training course organised in the summer of
2016 by bluegr Hotels & Resorts, was presented
at the 8th Children’s Festival of Agios Nikolaos,
aiming at the diffusion of Greek culture and the
deconstruction of Greek mythology’s symbolism
in an interactive (co-)speech with parents,
teachers and adult guests of the festival.
Meanwhile, another ‘Planet Agents’
environmental mission was successfully
completed in Agios Nikolaos. With the support
of the G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation, primary
school students in the 3rd and the 4th
grades and their teachers joined the “Planet
Agents” and undertook the protection of
the environment from waste. The students
chose their agent names and took on action.
Transformed into ‘Planet Agents’, they were
given the opportunity to play, have fun and,
through daily practices, learn how to protect
the environment.
As part of the volunteer environmental
activities undertaken by the bluegr Hotels Awards & Achievements
& Resorts Group, the hotels’ staff, in
collaboration with professional divers, also TUI Top Quality Awards 2016-2017-2018
assist in the cleaning of the sea bed close to Sensimar Minos Palace & Candia Park village

hotel & suites, and a special eco-menu served Business Hotel
at the Kool Life bar restaurant of the Life We do local Certification standard
