live on the island of Santorini with his family,
hagiographer Dimitris Koliousis is perhaps
KOLIOUSIS best known for his works showcased in one of
the most beautiful and important churches on
the island, namely Panagia Episkopi located
in the village of Episkopi Gonia.
Meet one of the most talented Modern Born in Paramythia, Epirus, after traveling the
Greek byzantine Icon painters at his world and settling down in Piraeus, when the
workshop in Oia and indulge in his time came for him to start a family, Dimitris
made the decision to move to the island with his
emotionally evocative figures of saints. partner Alithini, to live in a caravan amongst
the wild, inhospitable rocks of the island and
the endless blue of the Aegean Sea.
As he sits in front of his huge canvas under
the warm gaze of the angels and saints that he
paints with unique colors, he humbly admits
that he never painted as a child which is why
he admires children’s paintings so much. In
complete harmony with nature and his spiritual
being, the authenticity and uniqueness of both
his works and the man himself truly win you over.
