the man Behind Georgios & Co Fine Jewellery reveals how and why the results of his
exquisite work are so much like mykonos itself.
What makes a piece of jewellery timeless? What is at the heart of the Georgios & Co
Fine Jewellery collections? designing and creating Georgios & Co jewellery is a complex
process that requires a high aesthetic and excellent craftsmanship. it’s this aesthetic that will
inform the design of the piece and help make it unique and ultimately timeless. Craftsmanship
is the second but also vitally important ingredient that ensures precision and quality for every
piece. it’s our dream and passion to make jewellery that our customers will hold on to for life.
How do your pieces incorporate Mykonos and Delos? Georgios & Co has a long history on
the island of mykonos. in fact, two of the first collections we ever designed were the mykonos
Collection and the delos Collection. Contemporary but timeless at the same time, the mykonos
Collection encompasses the light, the wind, the sea – elements which abound on the island – and
draws from the cosmopolitan character and vibe that mykonos exudes. the delos Collection
comprises unique pieces of jewellery inspired by a truly matchless location, delos. Created
centuries ago, exceptionally beautiful aspects of delos have been transformed by designer
Georgios into jewellery that leaves a lasting impression. it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say that
anyone lucky enough to have an item from the collection has acquired a part of delos’ history.
What are in your opinion those singular elements that have helped you stand out from the
competition within the Mykonos market? the quality of our items and their timelessness,
our excellent service, and ultimately the fact that we truly believe in and love what we’re doing.
How do you spend your time on Mykonos? Does the island’s unique beauty steal some
of your entrepreneurial time? mykonos is indeed a truly inimitable place. it’s our choice
to live on this wonderful island, and we wouldn’t change it for the world. the architecture,
the sun, sea and wind are all elements that give us ample inspiration and drive to continue to
design and create jewellery.
Do you plan to teach your art to your sons in the future? Both my sons have expressed an
interest in the world of jewellery from a very young age. they marvel at the process of making
a piece by hand and they’re curious about it. their presence in our workshop and our stores
gives us joy and fills us with energy. we believe they will be worthy successors of our family
tradition and take what we started creating 40 years ago even further.
After your admittedly impressive career trajectory, what is your life philosophy? do what
you love. love what you do. this very simple choice is our life philosophy, and we believe it’s
echoed in the best way possible in the jewellery we make.
