CHAL KIDIKI

                  What Not to Miss in

                  Chalkidiki & Thessaloniki

A top destination that treasures not only nature and relaxing
experiences but history, art and an interesting food scene.

                                                  Current and rare old vines
Ktima Gerovassiliou has been involved in vine cultivation and
winemaking since 1981. On the slopes of Epanomi, a meticulously
well- cared vineyard surrounds the modern winery, where the
renowned Ktima Gerovassiliou wines are produced. Here, the
vineyard is cultivated with great care and enthusiasm that leads
Gerovassiliou to constantly researching and experimenting with
Greek and foreign varieties, both well and less known ones. New
technological advances blend well with tradition throughout
vine growing and vinification processes. The aim is to produce
high quality wines from grapes cultivated exclusively in privately-
owned vineyard; wines that carry all distinct characteristics of the
specific microclimate (terroir) in Epanomi. At the heart of the
winery, the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum presents various aspects
of the world history of wine-growing. (Epanomi, Thessaloniki.

                                                  Modiano Market
Thessaloniki’s food market, returns with a fresh new look, 100
years after its creation. It was indeed one hundred years ago when
architect Eli Modiano began the construction of the market in
Thessaloniki, where the Talmud Torah was previously located.
The new Agora Modiano is about to become again “the city’s new
central food market” to constitute not simply a covered food market
but also a space of social gathering, culture and leisure. The new
generation of Agora Modiano seeks to offer visitors exquisite Greek
and multicultural experiences, from purchasing food products
to embracing flavors, events and entertainment, in a unique
environment of high architectural aesthetic and historical value,
which combines the traditional and the contemporary, echoing
the social and cultural dynamism, as well as its significant culinary
culture. It is set to be a veritable paradise for lovers of good food,
housing a high-quality multicultural market that brings together
contemporary stores with vegetables, meat and fish from both local
and international producers, along with a variety of ready meal ideas.
Agora Modiano is about to become once again the living landmark of
Thessaloniki, just like it started by its founder Eli Modiano, in 1922
